War and the Human Heart, a Concert Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day and Honoring

At 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, at the Chapel of the Resurrection, Valparaiso University will present "War and the Human Heart," a special concert event featuring music and multimedia including film clips, to commemorate the Armistice Day Centenary. Featuring music that has never been performed in Northwest Indiana and may never be again, this event is meant to communicate what a veteran's experience is really like. The concert includes the Valparaiso University Chorale and Bach Choir, the VHS Varsity Singers, the VU Chamber Concert Band, Windiana Concert Band, vocal soloists, and narration by Dr. Mark Biermann, Provost of the University. At 4 p.m. in Rm. 1412 of the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts there will be a special pre-concert talk by Dr. Charles Rearick of the UMass Amherst, entitled “France in the Great War: The Divide between Home Front and Front Line –and How a Song Bridged the Gap”.
