5K Will Benefit Families in Need
Looking for a great way to kick off the season of giving? Look no further! On November 23rd, 2013, United Way of La Porte County presents the 5K Run, Walk, & Roll - a timed 3.1 mile race organized to directly benefit kids in La Porte County currently receiving treatments at Riley Children's Hospital. Proceeds raised will go directly to the families who are in need in our own community.
Grease the Musical Comes to the Stage
This is the 1950's rock 'n roll musical. Rydell High's spirited class of '59; gum chewing, hubcap stealing, hot rod loving boys with D.A's and their wise cracking girls in bobby sox and pedal pushers - capture the look and sound of the 1950s in a rollicking musical. Shows November 22 and November 23 at 7:00pm and November 24 at 2:00pm at Valparaiso High School Auditorium.
Hannah's Hope 4th Annual Vendor and Craft Fair
Gather your friends and family and join us for a fun filled day of shopping, lunch, baked goods and door prizes! A portion of the proceeds will go to build the future Hannah's Hope all inclusive playground and to help support Children's Neurobiological Solutions Foundation, First Steps of Northwest Indiana, and Jacob's Ladder.

Downtown Holiday Window Contest Launches November 22nd
Over 15 businesses located in Downtown La Porte will be decorating their windows for the holiday season and are ready for some competition. Launching November 22, 2013 and ending December 22, 2013, the 2nd Annual Holiday Storefront Competition brings some healthy competition between the businesses new and old in La Porte’s downtown.
City of Gary to Mark Thanksgiving with Gospel Concert and Food Giveaway
On Saturday, November 23 at 12 p.m., a Thanksgiving Gospel Concert will be held in downtown Gary at the Genesis Convention Center featuring a host of local groups and soloists. The tickets are $10, and all proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.
La Porte Community Invited to Thanksgiving Service
The Greater La Porte Ministerial Association would like to invite the community to gather for a “Community Thanksgiving Service” on Sunday November 24th at 6pm. The service will involve several pastors from our community, special music from the Choir from La Porte United Methodist Church, traditional Thanksgiving hymns, as well as a message from Pastor Dennis Meyer.
The Crucible at Portage High School
The Portage High School Thespians Drama Club is proud to announce their 2013 Fall Play, Arthur Miller's acclaimed masterpiece, the Tony Award winning play ‘The Crucible’. The show will be performed one weekend only, Friday and Saturday, November 22 & 23 at 7:30 pm; with a matinee on Sunday, November 24 at 2:30 pm.
Teen Art Show at La Porte County Public Library
La Porte County Public Library will host a Teen Art Show on Friday, November 22 at 6pm at the Main Library location in La Porte. The art can be any creative form of expression by the artists including paint, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, and more, as long as it is original by the teen artist.
Dedication Ceremony Marks Official Opening
The city of Valparaiso will celebrate the new roundabout at the five points intersection of Calumet Avenue, Vale Park Road, and Roosevelt Road on November 24th, 4:30 pm. The dedication ceremony will complete with a ceremonial lighting of the tree that sits in the middle of the new roundabout.
