Sheila Hazemi-Jimenez always wanted to own her own pizza place, even from the time she was a child. Since taking ownership of Tippy’s in Pulaski County in 2016, she has been able to make that dream come true, and even expand to a bigger and newer facility.

The Crown Point community stormed the ice at the brand new Bulldog Park on Saturday after Mayor David Uran cut the ribbon on the highly anticipated project. The brand-new, roughly $11 million facility is open for the rest of the winter, letting families step on the ice for tons of holiday fun.

The City of Whiting was very much alive Wednesday evening as community members came together to celebrate the newly erected Mascot Hall of Fame at the first annual FurTie Fundraiser. The night raised funds for the museum and showcased the building to the business community. Many sponsors, supporters, and business owners from all over Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland got their first glimpse of the interactive museum that will be a crucial contributor to Whiting’s growth in years to come.

There are few holiday decorations with as many possibilities for creativity as a Christmas tree. From the classic look with lights, garland, and solid colored ornaments to themed masterpieces; any and all manners of trees were on display at Spring Mill Health Campus’ Festival of Trees.
Starting around Thanksgiving, local businesses and organizations donated decorated Christmas Trees to Spring Mill. They lined their halls and parlors with the creative works that included giant snowmen, small villages, and many other decorations so that residents or visitors could pick their favorites and enter a raffle where the winner would take their chosen tree home. On Tuesday evening they did one final showcase featuring cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before choosing the winners.
