The Lady Cherokees, coached by Mike Boukis, finished off their season winning 1st place in their tournament Saturday. This is an amazing group of talented young ladies, who have worked hard, as a team, to accomplish this. The Lady Cherokees are undefeated for two seasons in a row. Giving them a 27-0 record.
Students, family members and teachers participated in Jackson Elementary School’s Color Fun Run hosted by the PTO on Sunday, Oct. 5 on the track at Chesterton Middle School.

The 6th grade Ginter Reality Hornets finished undefeated (4-0) at the University of Michigan Big House Champions Hoopla. By winning this tournament Ginter now qualifies for the Boo Williams National tournament in Virginia Beach in August.
The Colonel John Wheeler Middle School cheerleading team competed at La Porte last weekend and came out with a first place in middle school large division and Grand champions highest score over the entire competition!
Eight teams showed up for the Lake Porter Middle School Cross Country Meet held at Woodland Park tonight. Competing were host teams Portage Willowcreek and Fegley, along with Crown Point’s duo of Colonel Wheeler and Taft; from Valpo, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin, and rounding out the roster were the Hobart Brickies and Chesterton Trojans.
Fans of youth baseball around the country will be focused on Northwest Indiana as the Cal Ripken 12U World Series begins play on Friday in Hammond. Those who aren’t fortunate enough to make it to the games in person at beautiful Optimist Sports Complex can still catch all of the action.
