Chesterton High School Boys Lacrosse Team Moves to 5-1 With Two Victories

CHS-Lacrosse-2017_01The Chesterton High School Boys Lacrosse team played two games a Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis on Saturday. In the first game, the Trojans won 11-8 against Brownsburg. Chesterton led the entire game and spread out the scoring among six players. Mason Witt scored three goals, followed by Zak Smith, Blake Ellenwood, and Sam Westergren each with two and Trey Beeler and Dane Stanley each contributed one. Jack Masten allowed the Trojans to stay on offense with 9 face off wins.

CHS-Lacrosse-2017_02The midfielders controlled the field with Ellenwood, Stanley and Westergren combining for 7 ground balls, Masten had 4 and Ricciardi had 3. Smith dominated with 5 assists followed by Ellenwood with 3. The defense was led by Kevin Fulk with 4 ground balls and Max Martin with 3 takeaways.

CHS-Lacrosse-2017_03In the second game. Chesterton battled past Bishop Chatard with a nail biter to the finish. Chesterton was ahead 2-0 in the first quarter. The score was tied 5-5 at the half. In the second half, each Chesterton score was followed by a Chatard score resulting in a 10-10 tie with 1:05 remaining in the game. On a turnover, Blake Ellenwood charged down the field with and passed to Mason Witt who scored with 7 seconds remaining in the game. Final score CHS 11-10. Trey Beeler led the Trojans with 6 goals. The the remaining scoring spread evenly with one goal each from Grant Gilbertsen, Smith, Westergren, Stanley and Witt. Kyle Bucy was kept busy at goal with a season high 22 saves. The defense was led by Kevin Fulk with 5 ground balls.
