Four Region Players Selected to Indiana All-Stars

Northwest Indiana basketball will be well represented on this year’s IndyStar Indiana All-Star Team as four Region players made the cut.

Crown Point Basketball’s Grant Gelon will join Griffith’s Tremell Murphy, Gary 21st Century’s Eugene German, and East Chicago’s Damien Jefferson on the court on June 11 and 12 when the team takes on the Kentucky All-Stars in Indianapolis and Louisville.

German and Murphy were two of only three players selected who did not play basketball in 4A this year, and German was the highest scoring player out of the group of All-Stars, averaging 33.5 points per game for 21st Century.

Murphy was part of the inspirational Griffith team that made headlines this year, while Gelon made waves for committing to in-state powerhouse, Indiana University.

East Chicago’s Jefferson is the only other Northwest Indiana player on the team currently committed to playing next year in the NCAA, having accepted an offer to play for New Mexico.

Greensburg’s Stacy Meyer was selected as the Head Coach of the All-Stars, while Broad Ripple’s Scott Hicks and Northwood’s Aaron Wolfe will serve as assistants.

The team kicks off their campaign with Junior-Senior exhibitions on June 7 and 9.
