Andrean’s Dave Pishkur Named Coach of the Year of Class 3A

Dave-PishkurAndrean’s Dave Pishkur, varsity baseball coach, has been selected as Coach of the Year of Class 3A by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association. His peers voted him because of his outstanding success during the 2014 high school baseball season. Pishkur will be honored at the Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday, January 23rd in Indianapolis.

Dave Pishkur has received the Coach of the Year award three previous times. This is his 36th year as Varsity Head Baseball Coach of the Andrean 59ers. He has racked up a record of 865-256 with a .772 winning percentage ranking him 3rd of all active coaches for winning percentages, and 2nd in the State among active coaches in career wins. He’s won the NCC every year along with 25 Sectional titles, 11 Regional Championships, 5 State Final appearances, 1 State runner up, and 4 State Championship.

In the NCC Andrean had a record 27 game winning streak, 22 North All-Stars, 13 years coach of Team Indiana, State coach of the Year by IHBCA in 2005, 2009, 2010 & 2014, Hoosier Diamond coach of the Year 2009.

Pishkur, a 1971 Andrean graduate, played 2nd base and shortstop in the 59ers 1st baseball team under the guidance of Nick Crankovich. He attended Purdue, earning 6 letters in baseball & golf. He was an All-Conference 1st Team selection as a golfer. In1995 he received the Purdue University Calumet Alumni Athlete of the Year award.

Under Pishkur’s direction the 59'ers have sent seven players into the professional ranks, over 100 players went on to be collegiate baseball players and five have been drafted. Indiana H.S. Baseball Coaches Association named Pishkur Regional Coach of the Year 1985, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2005 & 2010. The Times Newspaper named him Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994, 2005, 2009 & 2014. In 2004 he was selected Indiana Baseball Coaches Association Nominee for the National Federation Coach of the Year. On January 20th, 2006 Pishkur was inducted into the Indiana H.S. Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Pishkur is also a member of the Andrean Sports Hall of Fame & Andrean Baseball Hall of Fame.
