Crown Point, Indiana to Host 2018 Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Disc Golf Championships

lakemichiganLemon Lake Disc Golf and Innova Champion Discs are pleased to announce that the 18th annual PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships will be held at the Lemon Lake disc golf complex from May 4-6, 2018. The tournament is sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). The PDGA is the international governing body for the sport of disc golf and sanctions over 3,500 tournaments in all 50 states, 34 countries, and 8 provinces each year for professional and amateur disc golfers.

“The PDGA is very pleased to be back in Crown Point for their third Major event in the last eight years,” said Shawn Sinclair, PDGA Events Coordinator. “This experienced team has hosted many of our premier events to their greatest potential, and this year will be no exception.”

Disc golf, or Frisbee™ golf as it is more commonly known, is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. The sport is played using the same general rules, terminology and etiquette as traditional golf, but instead of using a club to hit a ball into a hole in the ground, the player throws a high-tech flying disc into a standardized target. Most courses are comprised of 18 par-rated holes with diverse terrain and natural obstacles. The object, just as in traditional golf, is to play in as few throws of the disc as possible.

“We are thrilled to welcome back a PDGA Major to the Lemon Lake complex,” said Tournament Director Jay Svitko. “Tim Selinske was a pioneer in our great sport, and we can’t wait to honor his dedication and passion for disc golf at the Championship in May. We hope to see many spectators and supporters on-site and welcome the opportunity to showcase the sport’s brightest age-based stars on this grand stage.”
