Lakers Complete Three Game Sweep Of Wave

CCSJ-Baseball-3-Game-Sweep-2018Coming off two loses to Roosevelt University on Friday afternoon, the Calumet College of St. Joseph baseball team were looking to turn it around and take one game of the series. This time it would be on the Lakers home turf, who would use stellar pitching to blank the Crimson Wave Sunday afternoon in Chicago.

RESULTS
Roosevelt University 6, CCSJ 0
Winner: Matt Garbacz
Loser: Cody Bucsko (FR/Whiting, Ind.)

HOW IT HAPPENED
RU (11-13, 7-2 CCAC) hit the ground running, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles in the inning. CCSJ (2-27, 0-9 CCAC) starter Cody Bucsko hung in there, and didn't give up any more runs during his five frames pitched on the afternoon. Bucsko was not provided any run support, as Cal College only managed to assemble six hits, scattered across five innings. Wave relief pitchers would go on to allow three more runs in the final four innings on their way to the 6-0 loss at the hands of the Lakers.

STAT OF THE GAME
This is the fourth time that the Crimson and Gray have been shutout this season, and the first since they failed to score against the University of St. Francis back on March 13th.

WAVE PLAYER OF THE GAME
Enrique Rivero (FR/Miami, Fla.) was the only CCSJ player with two hits in the afternoon, and also helped out on defense with two putouts.

WHO'S ON DECK?
The Wave will continue CCAC action this Tuesday when they head back to Chi-town for a doubleheader against the Robert Morris University Eagles. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm
