Former Crown Point Standout Spike Albrecht to Transfer to Purdue

Former Crown Point High School Basketball standout, Spike Albrecht, announced via Twitter Tuesday that he will be transferring from Michigan University to Purdue University for his fifth and final season in College Basketball.

Albrecht averaged 21 points and five assists his senior season at Crown Point, and is most known for leading the Wolverines to a Final Four Runner-Up appearance as a Reserve Freshman at Michigan. Hip injuries forced Albrecht to sit out the majority of his senior season.

The 5’11” guard will be joining a young Purdue squad eager for some of the poise Albrecht showed during his time at Michigan. Albrecht’s high assist-to-turnover ratio was cited as one of the main reasons the guard was recruited by IU, Purdue, USC and others after announcing he was transferring from Michigan.

Albrecht’s leadership on and off-the-court led him to be named co-captain of the team during the 2014-15 season, which will serve the Boilermakers young and talented team well in the upcoming season.

Albrecht would be available to play immediately pending a waiver from the Big Ten Conference.
