The Indiana University Northwest men's and women's basketball teams earned a split with Ashford University (Iowa) on Saturday.
The IUN women's team picked up a 60-42 win behind 23 points and two steals from Portage High School graduate Nicki Monahan. Megan Holland (17 points) and Danieele Zandstra (12) also scored in double figures for the RedHawks, who improved their regular season record to 10-6.
IUN outscored Ashford 30-21 in both the first and second halves.
The RedHawks' men's team was not as lucky, falling to Ashford, 85-71 despite outscoring Ashford 39-38 in the second half.
Brandon Grubl led the IUN effort with 18 points, but turned the ball over nine times in the loss.
IUN is now 3-14 overall on the season.
