RedHawks Get Second Win Over Ranked Opponent

iun-women's-basketball-2013The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team raced out to a 38-30 halftime lead and picked up a crucial road victory, defeating Purdue University Calumet 74-71 Wednesday night.

The win was the second for the RedHawks against a ranked opponent this season.

Megan Holland paced IU Northwest with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Nicki Monahan (Portage), Rebecca Theriault, Brianne Wischman and Danielle Zandstra all scored in double figures. The RedHawks improve to 7-4 overall with the win.

Madison Gervais came off the bench to lead PUC with 18 points.

The IUN women were home early enough to catch the second half of the IUN men's game against Calumet College. Following the RedHawks 75-68 defeat at the hands of CC, a faculty and staff appreciation night was held at the gymnasium.

Brandon Grubl had 15 points to lead IUN in the losing effort, while Quentin Palmer (14) and Ulzana Sullivan (10) also scored in double figures.

Robert Jackson had a game-high 24 points for Calumet College.

IUN fell to 3-6 overall with the loss.
