South-Shore-Sports-Butterfly-OpenNational tournament to take place Oct. 26 and Oct. 27

The 10th annual South Shore Sports/Butterfly Open table tennis tournament will be held at the Highland Lincoln Center Oct. 26 and 27. The 4-star tournament is expected to host 230 players, with at least 80 players coming from outside the Midwest.

According to Dan Seemiller, tournament director and table tennis coach with South Bend Table Tennis Center, the tournament is known as the best junior event in the country.

All of the top junior players from across the country are playing. Junior players have entered from Texas, Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia,” said Seemiller.

The tournament will feature the Nate Wasserman Junior Championships and will offer $5,400 spread across the different junior events. According to Seemiller, winnings are primarily used for training expenses.

The public is welcome to attend the tournament and watch as players take to the tables. Matches will be played between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. There is no cost to attend.

The Highland Lincoln Center is located at 2450 Lincoln Street, Highland, IN 46322. For more information on the tournament or about the South Bend Table Tennis Center, contact Dan Seemiller at 574-261-4545 or visit www.sbttc.org.
