Marram Health Centers recently took the time to emphasize women’s health and its importance to women in the community. Focusing on the subject over the course of a month, they aimed to educate, examine, and aid many women in need.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Marram Health focuses on their ability to offer care to all women, regardless of insurance or ability to pay. This focus on serving everyone is part of why Stephanie Igwebuike, a family Nurse Practitioner, loves their work.
“We work as a team to get the patients taken care of,” explained Igwebuike. “We see all patients regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status. We also have an outreach program to help get people in the door and help them with their needs outside of healthcare.”
The emphasis for these health centers focuses on education and screening. By screening women for potential health problems, getting them treated, and then educating them on the issue, Marram and its providers offer an invaluable service to their patients.
“A lot of times patients don’t understand the cause of their health status. They need to understand how exercising, family history, illnesses, and diet contribute. Once we break it down for them, the patients have done a pretty good job at changing their lifestyle so that it impacts their health positively,” said Igwebuike.
Marram offers a wide variety of services to its patients. For women, obstetrics and gynecology is available, as well as pediatric care and a full range of other health services. They offer a comprehensive healthcare option, which provides access to multiple specialties under one roof.
“We offer a comprehensive approach. It’s more than being seen in a clinic, it’s more primary care with access to other departments like dentistry and psychiatry as needed. They have access to care and they don’t have to worry about insurance or if they can afford visits,” Igwebuike explained.
During Marram’s focus on women’s health, they were able to aid many and educate them on the values of living a healthy lifestyle and how to achieve that. By offering screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, STD’s and more, they were able to provide valuable services to the women of their community.
