Marram Health Center Celebrates Men’s Health Month

Marram-HCIn honor of National Men’s Health Month, Marram Health Center will be encouraging men in the community to access health services.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 2 men are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime compared to 1 in 3 women. Additionally, women are 100% more likely than men to visit the doctor for annual exams and preventative services.

Roland Walker, Medical Director of Marram, said it’s important for men at any age to take control of their health.

“Frequently, men don’t go to the doctor as often as they should,” said Dr. Walker. “Marram is dedicated to educating the community about the importance of preventative care and regular check-ups.”

To provide more information about men’s health issues, Marram will host a Wear Blue Day event at the clinic on June 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Each year, Wear Blue Day is celebrated on the Friday of Men’s Health Week to raise awareness about the importance of male health. Josh Kellems from the American Cancer Society will speak at the event about cancer screenings and prevention. The event will also feature Insurance Navigator Will Miller, as well as Marram doctors Marshall James and Roland Walker.

Patients can schedule an appointment by calling (219) 806-3000. Men scheduling their health appointment between June 7 and July 21, 2017 will have the chance to win a gift card to Family Dollar. For more information, visit marramhealth.org.
