Marram Health Center Opens in Gary

marram-health-centerMarram Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration and operating in Gary, Indiana, opens its doors to patients on Monday, December 7, 2015.

Marram provides integrated healthcare and total health services to all ages, from pediatric care to adult medical services, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

“Quality of life begins with good health,” said Rocco Schiralli, President/CEO of Marram Health Center. “We believe this clinic will help to enhance the health and well-being for residents of Northwest Indiana, building strong bodies and strong minds,” said Schiralli.

Marram Health Center was made possible through a federal grant that aims to expand preventive, primary, and integrated care to medically underserved populations.

Dr. Roland Walker is the Medical Director for the clinic. “Throughout this process, we have been grateful for our staff, partners, and the entire community to come together to bring this center to Gary. It is wonderful to see our community work together to enhance the health of its residents. I am pleased to be a part of this process and to continue working with others to help meet the increasing need for integrated healthcare services in the City of Gary,” said Walker.

Dr. Walker graduated in 2001 from The Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and part of his residency was completed with Methodist Hospital in Gary, IN. He practices and resides in the City of Gary.

Kobie Douglas, MD, Charles Motley, Jr., MD, J. Timothy Ames, MD, and Stephanie Spencer, NP-C will also practice out of the Marram clinic located at 3229 Broadway, Suite 205. The organization has partnered with other local providers, including Methodist Hospital and Edgewater Behavioral Health Services, to coordinate care for its consumers.
