Physicians Speak: Nikhil Madan, M.D.

Nikhil-MadanIt’s satisfying to help very sick patients.”

Growing up in a family of physicians, several of whom are pulmonologists, Dr. Madan’s choice of specialty was no surprise. “The field always intrigued me,” he said. “After medical school, I worked with a well-known pulmonologist in England, and that further spurred my interest.

After completing his residency at Stroger Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Madan completed a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Pennsylvania. He also holds a master’s degree in pharmacology and biostatistics from Jefferson College of Graduate Studies.

I enjoy the very acute cases I treat,” Dr. Madan commented. “It’s a good feeling to see a very sick patient in the ICU, and then be able to follow that person’s progress as they make it out on the floor and eventually to my office.”
