On Wednesday, January 31, the Residences at Deer Creek in Schererville invited the community out to their “Fire and Ice” event, enjoying what Deer Creek made open to the public with no admission costs.
Deer Creek’s Marketing Coordinator Jane Powers said, “We enjoy hosting free community events like this to give back to our community, and also, to offer people the chance to see what our culture is all about.”
Featuring a dual menu that was themed fire and ice, the event was a definitely a hit! Attendees mingled around, filled their bellies with tasty food, and had the chance to listen to musical entertainment provided by The Morning Glories, including two female vocalists and a guitarist that create beautiful harmonies with a raw and soulful sound.
Once the Deer Creek Chef made the cherries jubilee for guests, it was time to feast. Both menus exquisitely reflected the theme of fire and ice. The fire menu consisted of cherries jubilee served over vanilla ice cream, smoked pork shoulder sliders, and fire grilled chili garlic steak kabobs.
If it were even possible for attendees to be unimpressed with the fire menu, the ice menu, on the other hand, offered homemade Sangria sorbet, raw bar-shrimp cocktail and garlic herb mussels, and chilled chicken mango mint salsa shots. Of course, to pair with the food were fire and ice concocted drinks to put the cherry (jubilee) on top of it all – Apple Cinnamon Fireball and Blue Ice martinis!
After a delightful night of getting together at Deer Creek, community members left the building, always welcome and encouraged to come back. Residences at Deer Creek is a senior living community offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care that provides care for the community.
