Spring Mill Health Campus, Munster Med-Inn & Sebo’s Nursing Rehabilitation Center Scatter Painted Rocks to End Alzheimer’s

Springmill-Alzheimers-walk-01 Many communities around the area are participating in a campaign that involves hiding painted rocks throughout their communities and working together to find them. The activity is a lot of fun for many community members and brings an opportunity to spread words of kindness or interesting art with others.

Some businesses and communities are using this as an opportunity to do good and spread information for worthy causes. For many, it’s a simple, fun, and relevant method to raising awareness for a cause they care deeply about.

Springmill-Alzheimers-walk-02 Spring Mill Health Campus in Merrillville is one of those businesses using the rocks to spread the word about the things in which they believe. Recently they’ve gotten their residents to paint a multitude of rocks purple to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s. Not only are the rocks painted and being hidden along the walking path for the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, but for each one returned to their campus, $5.00 will be donated to research efforts.

Spring Mill Health Campus sponsors the annual Alzheimer’s Walk, and is one of three campuses taking part in this initiative. Munster Med-Inn and Sebo’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will also be taking part. Each location will be walking on Sunday and pledging funds that aid in finding a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Springmill-Alzheimers-walk-03 While the method is simple, it gave residents who would otherwise be unable to participate in the walk a way to be involved. The rocks also serve as a way to spread awareness and increase fundraising amounts through community participation. It’s also an interesting way to make the walk even more interactive for those involved.

If you plan to walk at the Lake County Fairgrounds on Sunday, keep an eye out for the purple rocks along the way! They’re labeled with each facility’s hashtag, and each returned rock brings more funding towards a cure for Alzheimer’s!
