Residential Clinical Services Proud to Announce 1st in Class Clinical Education Program

RCS-1st-in-classResidential Clinical Services is constantly striving to improve the community around them. Though they work primarily with concerns involving home health, they also work to implement programs that will aid the community as a whole.

Most recently they’ve created a CNA training program, 1st in Class Clinical Education, which will begin its first sessions in January of 2018. Dedicated to creating well-trained and motivated CNAs, the program only seemed logical to Ashlee Oliver, Director of Nursing for RCS.

“We had a couple of our referring facilities asking if we train CNAs,” explained Oliver. “So we ended up wanting to provide a training program that was affordable and student focused.”

Oliver has worked hard over the last year to create the program, procedures, lesson plans, and clinical sites to train these students. She not only undertook much of this work, but became a certified trainer herself in order to fully implement the program.

“I worked for a few months around the clock making sure we had clear guidelines for our policies and procedures,” explained Oliver. “I went down state and became certified as a trainer, but I’ve worked for about the last 12 months really forming the program and then getting it to be a state approved program.”

For her and the rest of Residential Clinical Services, the small sacrifices are worth it for the bigger picture. Seeing a need in the area around them, it became apparent that they could help train CNAs to work for not only them, but other facilities in the area.

“It won’t necessarily directly benefit us, but it’s important to us that the facilities we work with have accessibility to well-trained aides,” said Oliver. “We are just working really hard to care for patients in Northwest Indiana through our home health agency and now we’re looking to also provide well-trained, trustworthy, and reliable CNAs in the surrounding area.”

To Oliver, this training program not only offers a way to aid the community, but also gives many a way to explore the healthcare field to determine if they are interested in furthering their education.

“We’re providing high-quality, cost-effective training for anyone looking to pursue a career in the healthcare field,” said Oliver.
