I am currently hiring for Coverage Journalists in the Northwest Indiana area. As a Coverage Journalist you will get to travel to places you may have never been, talk to people you have never met, and document your travels through photos and the written word.
This means the position is photography and writing intensive...but I really don’t care if you apply and you have less than one minute of experience in either of these.
What I mean by that is this: Our editorial staff is chock full of talented writers...and me...and all these talented writers we have are more than willing to help you learn and grow your writing skills if you want to. We have, hands down, the best photographer in Northwest Indiana in Anna Hanson, and she is more than willing to do whatever it takes to build you into a photographer.
In other words, we have the talent and the desire to make you a better writer, photographer, and ultimately, journalist.
What I can’t teach someone is the passion and drive it takes to want to tell the world a story it will remember.
What I am looking for, specifically, is someone who immerses themselves in life and seeks the soul of every story they work on; someone who understands that it doesn’t matter if you’re using a DSLR with a $2K lens or a cell phone, the goal is the same and achievable: capture the heart.
I want a storyteller.
