A Northwest Indiana Life in the Spotlight: Daniella Webb

Daniella-WebbBorn and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL, along with her two brothers, Daniella Webb has always worked hard for what she wanted in her life. Keeping the value that her mother taught her close to her heart, Webb continues to apply the knowledge and beliefs instilled in her from the time she was a child.

"I definitely inherited my mother's work ethic," Webb laughed. "I try to bring that with me every day, no matter what I am doing – whether it's working with my patients at the hospital, or with my husband at our home, or spending time with my nieces and nephews. I try to give the best of myself to each situation."

Having lived in Indiana for the past twelve years, Webb is currently located in the city of Munster, where she lives with her husband of seven years, Dennis Webb, Jr.. Webb serves as an RN on the Intermediate Care Floor for Community Hospital, where she has worked for the past four years.

"I love living so close to the hospital," Webb said. "It is really nice being able to care for the people in my community."

Webb also served as a certified nursing assistant on a pediatric medical/surgical floor prior to receiving her RN. While working on the pediatric medical/surgical floor, she was also a unit clerk and nurse teach on a newborn intensive care floor. Her current job on the Intermediate Care Floor is her first nursing job, and she couldn't be more excited to be there.

"I am honored to work with many experienced and strong people, who I am constantly learning from," Webb said. "It is incredible to see how much the people I work with can do on any given day. I am amazed every day at what wonderful people they are."

The floor Webb works on cares for patients on heart monitors with many different conditions, from congestive heart failure to coronary artery disease to pulmonary disease to cancer. Recently, Webb received the "2014 Nursing Excellence Award," nominated by her coworkers for this prestigious award.

"I was very overwhelmed and honored by the nomination," Webb said. "I love being a nurse. It's the kind of job that makes you feel blessed every day for every moment. It makes you appreciate many things. I love being able to show kindness and care for my patients. I am still learning many things. We are a team, on my floor, and so many nurses deserve that award. I have been truly humbled by this experience."

In her spare time, Webb enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and all of their little nieces and nephews, keeping all the values her mother taught her close at heart.
