10 Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana July 21 – July 23, 2017

And it begins! Festivals, fairs, live music, and endless amount of food and fun has begun! Start with the Porter County Fair – watch the 4-H contests, see the Porter County Fair Queen get crowned, enjoy games and festival food. Then head over to Hammond’s Festival of the Lakes to play more games, and see the rap star Flo Rida on Saturday night! For a quieter evening, enjoy a leisurely night ride in La Porte with the family or learn about the benefits of meditation and hypnosis. Learn more about and celebrate the local law enforcement at the Sunset Hill Farm Touch a Truck and at the Gary SouthShore RailCats game. It is going to be another great weekend to enjoy with the entire family or just head out with friends!

Hammond’s Festival of the Lakes
The five-day festival starts on Thursday and ends on Sunday, offering many sleepless nights, but tons of fun! The first concert is Kool & The Gang on Wednesday, Bush headlines on Thursday, Limp Bizkit is on Friday, and the main event is Flo Rida on Saturday! In between enjoy kids activities, golf games, and the Kathleen Pucalik Memorial 5k Walk, Run, and Splash!

Porter County Fair Weekend
Head to the Porter County Fair for a weekend of great music and a great time. Thursday night kicks off with Old Dominion with Special Guests, High Valley, Friday stars Toby Keith with Walker Country as the special guests, and then on Saturday night presents Matt Maher, Tenth Avenue North, and Jordan Feliz! The weekend also includes all Fair activities – games, food, contests, and much more! Don't forget to wave to the Fair Queen!

La Porte Night Bike Ride
The night ride is a 13-mile leisurely bike ride through the city. All participants must wear a helmet and have a headlight and taillight on their bike. Riders get a t-shirt and snacks!

La Porte Chamber of Commerce Craft Fair
The first Craft Fair is this weekend and the next one is August 19! Vendors will take over the Herald-Argus parking lot during the Farmer’s Market, offering up handmade and artisanal items! Shop for anything from clothes and accessories, to furniture, and toys!

Parents as Teachers of Porter County’s Touch a Truck
Head out to Sunset Hill farm for Touch a Truck, where children get to touch a truck and rub elbows with their hometown heroes. In addition, there will be monster trucks, race cars, police cars, and more! For even more fun, there will be a bounce house, unlimited pony and wagon rides, plus tons of food and drinks!

Community Healthcare System’s Inspirations from the Garden
Enjoy a peaceful day at the Center Resource Center in Munster, where participants can learn about meditation and healing from local artisans, gardeners, and therapeutic healers. Learn about the healing benefits of hypnosis, the amazing lives of honeybees, and a chi Gong demonstration.

Michigan City High School Show Up & Show Out Competition
The 10th annual "Show Up & Show Out" Drill Team/ Drumline/ Dance competition, is hosted with a Special performance by the Michigan City Soul Steppers Drill Team! This is the biggest competition of its kind in Indiana history, so Get Ready for a great show!

Gary SouthShore RailCats Blue Line Night
The Gary SouthShore RailCats are celebrating the local police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and all law enforcement in Indiana during this weekend’s game! All players and coaches will be wearing a black jersey with a thick blue line for the officers. The night will also include Lake county Pipes and Drums Performance, Lake County Sheriff Helicopter Flyover, K-9 Demonstration, a ceremonial first pitch, and more demonstrations!

Nativity Knight’s of Columbus #9114 Car Cruise Fundraiser for Gibault
Hosted by Harbor Buick/GMC in Portage, the Knight's of Columbus #9114 of Nativity will have a community wide Car Cruise to benefit Gibault. Gibault is a children's services providing life-changing opportunities for children, adults, families, and communities. The car cruise is free to everyone. Once again Thunder Roads Productions will be officiating the event. There will be trophy's, great food, raffles, 50/50, music, bounce house, face painting and much more for the whole family!

The dynamic "Mo' Beat Blues" Variety Show includes Samuel Lozada of Mo' Beat Blues is a professional entertainer, singer-songwriter, musician, and harmonica virtuoso performing in Greater Chicago, Northwest Indiana, and areas beyond!
