The U.S. Steel Gary Works air permit from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is up for renewal. Now is the time for residents to let the IDEM and U.S. Steel know that we want Gary Works to control and eliminate the pollution that fouls our air and makes people sick.
Join with Gary Advocates for Responsible Development (GARD) and attend a Public Hearing to comment on the permit renewal and let the IDEM and U.S. Steel know that residents need clean air to live healthy lives, protect our natural environment, and revitalize our local economy. How have you and your family been affected by air pollution from the Gary Works steel mill?

The public notice period will end on April 29, 2024. All comments will be considered by IDEM when they make a decision to issue or deny the permit. Comments that are most likely to affect final permit decisions are those based on the rules and laws governing this permitting process (326 IAC 2), air quality issues, and technical issues.
