First Merchants Bank Brings Community Together Through Music at 2018 Munster Summer Concert Series

Live music has a way of bringing people together. First Merchants Bank knows that uniting the community is important for the individual, society, and its business, recognizing that it all begins and ends with people. With this in mind, they have proudly sponsored the 2018 Munster Summer Concert Series at Heritage Park to achieve this mission and fulfill their values, all while giving back to the community it serves.

The concert series kicked off on June 10th with a rockin’ performance by local band “SHiNDiG!” The next performance is set for Sunday, July 8th at 6:30pm with “Cadillac Groove” performing a collection of songs that merge blues, funk, soul, rock, and R&B. Subsequent concerts will be held at the Heritage Park Gazebo every other Sunday starting at 6:30pm. These are absolutely free and open to the public!

Here is a breakdown of the next two performances of the summer:

Sunday, July 22nd with “The Relics” - Having performed around Chicagoland for the last 24 years, this band is known for their strong vocals and rich harmonies. Their performance will feature some classics, including vintage rock ‘n roll and Motown from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.

Sunday, August 5th with “1976” - This band will perform just what you expect - iconic rock ‘n roll hits from the 1970s: think, Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac, Boston, and Elton John, just to name a few.

To bring this community event full circle, the Munster Parks Department, the Munster Historical Society, and the Munster Girl Scouts will also be present at the concert. The Munster Girl Scouts are proud to donate their time to help maintain the park and assist with events. Together, the Munster Historical Society and the Girl Scouts will be selling delicious popcorn and rootbeer floats to help maintain the park, the gazebo, and the Kaske House.

The Kaske House is the home of Munster’s rich history, stocked with memorabilia and other historical gems. The house will be open after hours during the concert so that concert-goers may take time to appreciate what the site has to offer. In this way, the community will come together over shared music and shared history.
