South Shore Orchestra Debuts Symphonic Voices at Memorial Opera House on April 1, 2016

VivaldiGloriaPoster-2016South Shore Orchestra Debuts Symphonic Voices on April 1 at Memorial Opera House opening its 12th season with a spirited celebration of voice and orchestra.

Joining SSO and Maestro Troy Webdell in their first concert together will be the 125 member Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus directed by Nancy Menk. SSO and Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus will perform Puccini’s Requiem Aeternam, and Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, which musically depicts the resurrection of Christ. Soloists include Maura Janton Cock, Soprano and Jamie Caporizo, Mezzo Soprano.

Also fearured will be pianist Marvin Rosen performing Alan Hovhaness’ Janabar (Journey), which evokes liturgical images of other worlds through the plaintive chant of the piano, and trumpet and violin solos. Marvin Rosen is also a Hovhaness scholar, and radio host/producer for Classical Discoveries in Princeton, NJ. You can find more information about Mr. Rosen at http://www.classicaldiscoveries.org.
