Television Show to Savor Newton, Jasper Counties

restaurantsSavor Indiana, a television show that features food and travel destinations throughout Indiana, is working on an episode dedicated to Newton and Jasper counties.

“Newton and Jasper County have a lot to offer visitors and residents,” explained Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA. “Savor Indiana is a great opportunity to highlight some of the gems in those counties.” The tourism bureau, which serves as the official destination marketing organization for Newton and Jasper counties, coordinated the production of the show with Savor Indiana producers.

Over the course of two days, producers of the PBS show have been working with the South Shore CVA and the Jasper County Economic Development Organization to conduct site visits with the local businesses and attractions that will be featured in the episode. Following the visits, scripts will be developed and the Savor Indiana team will return to begin filming.

“The episode will highlight six businesses in Newton and Jasper counties,” said Batistatos. “Viewers of the program will see the potential for planning day trips and weekend getaways.”

The episode will feature a stop at Bub’s BBQ in DeMotte, Carpenter Creek Cellars and Caboose Lake Campground in Remington, Farmhouse Restaurant and the Pork Education Center in Fair Oaks, and the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in Medaryville.
