Gary to Host Drive-In Movie Night at Marquette Park June 6

2014-marquette-drive-inThe community is in for a special treat Friday, June. 6 as Gary’s Marquette Park will be transformed into a drive-in movie theater. For only $10 per car and $15 for Vans and SUVs, moviegoers will enjoy two family friendly films – “Frozen” and “The Hunger Games 2.” Gates at Marquette Park Beach open at 5:30 p.m. with the first film starting at dusk.

This clever idea was the brainchild of Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and initially launched last September.

“I am so glad that we are able to bring the drive-in movie back this year,” said Freeman-Wilson. “Once again, it will be a fun, affordable night out for the family with Lake Michigan as a beautiful backdrop.”

In order to deliver the full drive-in theater effect, there will be vendors selling movie snacks. There will also be an inflatable fun area where children can play until the movies begin. Attendees will be able to tune in to the film using their car radios.

,p> There are still vendor and advertising opportunities. Local businesses and organizations can promote their message on the silver screen for only $500. The message will be looped in 30-second intervals for approximately 1 hour before the movie starts and during the event’s 20-minute intermission. Vendor opportunities are available in a price range of $100 to $250. (See advertising and vendor packet attached.)
