Meet the Author of the Towle Theater’s Newest Musical

Towle-TheaterThe Towle Theater is proud to announce that the writer of the book and lyrics of Next Thing You Know, Ryan Cunningham, will be in attendance at the Thursday, May 7th performance. Following the performance of Next Thing You Know, there will be an audience talkback (Q & A). This will give audiences a chance to meet the writer and ask questions about the show.

Ryan Cunningham is a graduate of the NYU graduate musical theatre writing program and is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatist Guild. He is a Jonathan Larson Award winner as well as Drama Desk and MAC Award-nominated writer. He and Joshua Salzman originally wrote NTYK as a song cycle. It developed into a full-length musical and premiered in 2011 at the Collaborative Arts Project 21 in New York. Next Thing You Know was the second show that Cunningham and Salzman have written. Their first show was I Love You Because which has been produced all over the world in five different languages and was a Drama Desk Award Nominee.

The Towle produced I Love You Because in 2011 and because of its success, the Towle sought out the duo’s newest musical. “The creation of this piece has been a labor of love” says Managing Director, Jeff Casey. “The show continues to grow with every rehearsal and Ryan Cunningham has been very helpful with his insight of certain moments in the show.”
