Towle Youth Theater Ensemble Announces auditions for “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?”

Towle-TheaterSince 2010, the Towle Youth Theater Ensemble, or TYTE, has been wowing NWI audiences with productions such as the Northwest Indiana Premiere of Jason Robert Brown’s 13, Anne of Green Gables, Laughing Stock & Clue the Musical. The next TYTE production will be the musical Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? directed by Managing Director Jeff Casey and Musical Direction by Elizabeth Tuazon. The show will run October 18-19, 24-26. This "coming of age" story involves the 1950’s Catholic education of eight children, following them from the start of elementary school through the senior prom & beyond.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 10am & Sunday, August 10 at 1pm at the Towle Theater; 5205 Hohman Avenue, Hammond IN. They are seeking 4 young men and 4 young women (grades 6-12) all strong singers and actors. Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway style song, provide sheet music in the proper key. Students from all over NW Indiana and Southern suburbs of Chicago are strongly encouraged to audition. Those who audition and don’t make the cast or anyone interested in off-stage/back-stage involvement will work on small committees for the show including box office, tech and PR/marketing.
