Another “Thrilling” Premiere at the Towle with “The Nightmare Room”

the-nightmare-roomThe Nightmare Room is the second production in the 2014 season at Towle Theater, and it is a world apart from the season-opening comedy, Adrift in Macao. This uniquely suspenseful drama features a small cast and a minimalist set, which holds a number of surprises for the audience. Opening on May 2, The Nightmare Room written by John Goodrum is making its Indiana premiere on the Towle stage with guest director Mark Baer. Mark Baer is currently the Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing at Indiana University Northwest and is thrilled to be making his Towle Theater debut with this exciting production that will leave audiences guessing.

There was initially some apprehension about including a thriller in the 2014 season lineup, but these worries quickly subsided when director Mark Baer read the suspenseful script based on a short story by Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play dives into the complex relationship of Catherine and Helen, who have shared a friendship since childhood. At the beginning of the play, the two are alone in a windowless room where the hidden demons of the relationship soon come to light. This unique theatrical experience features a stunning script that is brought to life by excellent actors Makha Mthembu (South Africa living in Chicago) and Toya Turner (Lansing, IL).

The Towle Theater could not continue to bring you quality entertainment without the season sponsorship from Accucraft Imaging and the exclusive show sponsorship from Vanis Salon and Day Spa.
