Join the Towle Theater for their 11th Season

Towle-TheaterThe 11th Season for the Towle is looking to be better than ever, with four productions that have never been produced in our area. The season opens with a Northwest Indiana Premiere musical Adrift in Macao. Managing Director, Jeff Casey will direct Adrift in Macao, which is a loving parody of film noir style movies. Everyone that comes to Macao is waiting for something, and though none of them know exactly what that is, they hang around to find out. Broadwayworld.com calls it… “a drop-dead funny book and shamefully silly lyrics by Christopher Durang and lethally catchy music by Peter Melnick.”

The spring show is an Indiana Premiere called The Nightmare Room based on the story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and written by John Goodrum. The show will be directed by Mark Baer, Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing at IU Northwest. The Nightmare Room, a dark & chilling psychological thriller! Two best friends, both in love with the same dashing former movie star, locked in a room with a bottle of poison. Who lives? Who dies? Who's right? Who's wrong? You'll be on the edge of your seat all the way through the spine-chilling climax!

The summer musical is a US Premiere From up Here written by Aaron Lee Lambert. High above the bustle of the city, five strangers find solace on the Brooklyn Bridge, suspended between who they were and what they might become. From Up Here explores time, change and the choices that shape the lives of five very different people whose paths cross in the most unlikely of ways and asks the question: what makes life worth living? Sherry Sweeney (director of Pursued by Happiness) will be returning to direct this show.

And finally the closing show of the 2014 Season is the Indiana Premiere Play Dates by Sam Wolfson who also co-wrote Jewtopia. Marty Grubbs, director of Jewtopia will be directing Play Dates. Play Dates is a play all about love, falling in, falling out and everything in between. From the childhood innocence of your first everlasting crush, to the challenge of trying to keep the spark alive after ten years of marriage, to the tortuous single years in between when you think you'll never find anybody, PLAY DATES hilariously reminds us that love is never easy...and kindergarten is just the beginning.
