Local Business Owners Anticipate 2015 Farmer’s Market

Rhonda BlochAfter a long winter, many farmers and artisans from all over will soon begin to navigate to their local farmer’s markets bringing a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses, jams, crafts, and more.

Rhonda Bloch, owner of Sip Coffee House in the downtown square, has been contributing to the Crown Point Farmer’s Market for 15 years and believes her participation is critical to creating and maintaining relationships with her customers.

“I like participating in the Crown Point Farmer’s Market because, being right outside my door, the people attending are the largest part of my customer base,” Bloch said. “For those who are hearing of Sip Coffee House for the first time at the farmer’s market, I’m able to point out our shop and show them where they can stop in.”

Bloch has been in the food business since she was 15 years old and has always believed that you have to work hard for yourself if you want to be successful.

Over the years, she has developed an exceptional understanding of her customers’ taste buds. She narrowed down the menu to only include their top sellers from artisan sandwiches to a wide variety of delectable lattes.

The breakfast menu includes omelets, oatmeal, bagel and croissant sandwiches, wraps and quiche. There is a full lunch menu with grilled sandwiches, gourmet salads and soups.

“Our specialty lattes comes in 35 different flavors,” Bloch said. “While we sell an equal amount of each of them, our most well-known is the Honey Bee.”

The Honey Bee latte is a delicious combination of espresso, milk, vanilla and honey. In addition to the lattes, she also offers a variety of teas, smoothies, frappes and bubble tea, which is made with tapioca bubble pearls that have a gummy-like taste.

At this year’s farmer’s market, Bloch will have her artisan breads and desserts available for purchase. She will also be selling a variety of her specialty drinks such as peach iced tea, bubble tea, and iced coffee. In the fall, she plans on warming up market-goers with her delicious, homemade pumpkin soup.

The Crown Point Farmer’s Market is set to take place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will run from June 6 to September 26.
