She will discuss the transformation of the program as it has grown from one team of 15 girls in 2006 to now serve over 2,000 girls annually across NWI.

“I absolutely love when a parent or coach tells me about how the program has impacted their girl, and influenced their family to be more active,” said Schlueter-Kim. “We've impacted a lot of people with this program, but just hearing a single positive story reminds me that all the work is worth it!"

The event will be cocktail attire but guests are encouraged to leave their dress shoes at home and wear their favorite pair of sneakers. The evening will be hosted by Tom Byelick and Michele Piskol, producers and hosts of The Tomfoolery Show. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at www.gotrofnwi.org for $50 through March 9. Any remaining tickets can be purchased at-the-door for $55.

Girls-on-the-Run-of-NWI-Celebrates-10-Years-with-their-Inaugural-Sneaker-Soiree-2017_03 The Sneaker Soiree is the primary fundraising event for Girls on the Run of Northwest Indiana. It benefits the organization's efforts to bring the Girls on the Run program to as many girls as possible and helps provide financial assistance to over 60% of program participants. As a non-profit serving over 2,000 girls annually across Northwest Indiana, GOTR of NWI relies on the support of the community.

Girls on the Run of Northwest Indiana provides a physical activity-based youth development program to over 2,000 third through eighth grade girls each year across Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton, Starke and Pulaski counties. The program inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

“Being involved with GOTR has made me more confident in myself and helped me to really discover my leadership skills,” said Schlueter-Kim. “I've really found my calling, so it is never just a job for me. It's made me a better mom and helped me to be very intentional in how I'm raising my three girls.”
