Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor Rings In 3rd Term With Inaugural Ball

On Saturday, Hobart Mayor Brian K. Snedecor celebrated his Mayoral Election victory in November with his third Inaugural Mayor’s Ball held at Ambassador Banquets in Hobart. The election win kicks off Mayor Snedecor’s third term in office as Hobart’s Mayor.

“We always have a Mayor’s Inaugural Ball in the beginning of my term so this is my third term and my third Inaugural Ball,” said Mayor Snedecor. “It’s just a great night where people come together. You know it’s all about not only the city of Hobart but you look around and it’s the region. It reflects a willingness to come together to celebrate our accomplishments and not just in Hobart. We have people here from La Porte, Portage, Hammond, Crown Point and Lake Station.”

“It’s great to see everyone come together and celebrate what’s going on in the region,” Snedecor said. “You look around and it’s businesses and it’s residents. This is an exciting time for celebration. Not only what’s happening but what we have to look forward to.”

Mayor Snedecor touched on some things that he is looking forward to getting accomplished in his third term.

“The main thing right now is getting the 61st Avenue Project done,” said Snedecor. “It’s the gateway to our medical community. We have some other projects that we’re going to be doing. Firehouse 2 is going to get opened up. That’s going to be a mixed use location with a community room, Fire and Police so it’s going to be a nice mix.”

While Mayor Snedecor is looking forward to the work ahead, the evening was all about celebrating Hobart and the region. The event featured a surprise performance from Pipes & Drums, a bagpipe and drum ensemble from Culver Military Academies as well as performances from acapella group, The Spaniels. Also in attendance was Dennis McKinnon, wide receiver of the 1985 Chicago Bears.

Emcee for the evening's celebration was Chris Mahlmann, Founder and Publisher at Ideas In Motion Media.

“It’s just an incredible honor to be here tonight,” said Mahlmann. “Mayor Snedecor embraced everything we do and he completely understood what the ‘good news crew’ is all about from the very first minute I met him many years ago. He’s just been immeasurably helpful at helping us connect to every good news story in Hobart. He got us from day one and it made all the difference in terms of how much we can reflect positively on the city.”

As a testament to the reach and impact Mayor Snedecor has had on the region, five mayors from Lake to La Porte Counties were in attendance at the Mayor’s Inaugural Ball including: Blair Milo, La Porte; Chris Anderson, Lake Station; David Uran, Crown Point; Jim Snyder, Portage; Thomas McDermott Jr., Hammond.

Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. spoke about his long relationship with Mayor Snedecor and his impact on Hobart and the region.

“I’ve known Mayor Snedecor since he took over,” McDermott said. “We’ve been really close. All the mayors are real close. I was chairman when Brian took over so, for him and I, we were tight from the start. I think a lot of people would be reassured if they saw how the Mayors treat each other. They’d feel a lot better about their government because we all get along so well together. Brian is one of the crew. We love him. Look at how many mayors showed up. That’s a testament to what a great guy he is. He’s doing a great job in Hobart and Hobart residents love him too!”
