Kids Alive International Golf Outing is “Fore” a Good Cause

For nearly 100 years, Kids Alive International has brought hope to children around the world by meeting their spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional needs. The nonprofit is a Christ-centered organization that serves 14 countries, helping impoverished children by taking them out of their current environments and placing them in one of their Children’s Homes, Care Centers, or School programs.

As many nonprofits go, this entity survives solely on the generosity of donors and volunteers. The mission of Kids Alive reaches many, but Steiner Homes LTD. thought that more could be reached. So they got together with Kids Alive and brainstormed. Lightning struck and the idea for their annual golf outing came to life.

“This is our second annual golf outing,” Dan Steiner, owner of Steiner Homes said. “I’ve been involved with Kids Alive for about 30 years now and I love how the organization helps kids all over the world. I’ve been able to travel to different countries to help these kids. It’s an excellent cause and we’re happy that we can help out in any way we can.”

Northwest Indiana residents love their golf, they also love their kids, and they love to help so this is always a well populated event. A portion of the proceeds generated from the golf outing benefit the mission of Kids Alive International.

So ladies and gentlemen gathered into groups for the outing’s four-person scramble and ventured out onto the vast golf course. It was a chilly yet lovely day and the course looked impressive with its greenery that was just beginning to get tinges of red and orange, hinting at the set in of the fall season.

Matt Parker is the newly appointed president of Kids Alive International. He’s been involved with the organization for the last 20 years and has overseen projects and helped families all over the world through this organization.

“This event and the others that we have to raise funds for Kids Alive are really great,” Parker said. “We really appreciate all that the communities of Valparaiso and the surrounding areas do for us and with us whether it’s volunteering, donating, or participating in events. These events are a great way for us to share our mission with the people in Northwest Indiana and spreading the word is crucial.”

After the outing concluded, participants were treated to dinner and awards were given out as well as door prizes. On top of the game and food that the admission fee covered, a portion of the fee was automatically donated to Kids Alive International. Everyone left that day with a neat commemorative shirt, a bag stuffed with goodies, and the knowledge that they had done something good for someone who needs that good.
