NWI Comic-Con Returns to South Shore in 2015

NWI-comic-con-2015The 2nd Annual Northwest Indiana Comic-Con returns to the South Shore on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Halls of St. George. The family-friendly show focuses on comics, creators, community and fans while offering attendees numerous things to experience.

The one-day comic book convention will feature artists and dealers, a cosplay corner, a table top gaming room, concessions and more. According to Brian Grabinski, show runner, attendees will also be able to enjoy a live magic show, a special effects demo by two contestants from Syfy’s Face-Off series, a free pop rock concert by the band Phosphene, a kids costume parade, and a teen and adult cosplay contest.

Throughout the convention, exhibitors will offer pop culture collectibles, video games, jewelry, costume accessories and more.

Two local charities will be present at the convention: Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation and the Humane Society Calumet Area.

“We are hosting both charities on site, and we are also having items available for raffle and purchase, and all proceeds will be donated to those charities,” explained Grabinski.

Grabinksi estimates that the show will attract approximately 2,500 attendees, with people coming from multiple states and regions to experience the convention.

The convention is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission costs $8 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and military personnel, police officers and firefighters; and $2 for children under 12.
