South Shore CVA to host “A Christmas Story” Scene Re-Creation Contest

Leg-Lamp-A-Christmas-StoryAs part of the annual holiday exhibit, “A Christmas Story” Comes Home, the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will be hosting a scene re-creation contest via Instagram, called #SceneItACS, in which participants will re-create a popular scene from the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.”

Prior to the start of the #SceneItACS contest, South Shore CVA social media fans and followers will be polled on their favorite scenes from the holiday classic. The three most popular scenes will be chosen as those to be re-created by #SceneItACS participants.

The scenes will be announced on Friday, November 28, and participants will take either a photo or a video of themselves and friends re-creating the scene, and upload it onto Instagram with the hashtag “#SceneItACS.”

Scene re-creation submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 24. The recreated scene with the most “likes” will be named the winner, and will be announced on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 25. The winner will be awarded a grand prize gift basket containing various “A Christmas Story” items, as well as other goodies, valued at approximately $150.

The #SceneItACS contest is part of the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit, which is presented in agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The exhibit will be on display from Nov. 8 to Jan. 4, 2015, in the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall at the Indiana Welcome Center. The Indiana Welcome Center is located at the intersection of I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue South in Hammond; only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and two hours north of Indianapolis.
