Humane Society to Host Run, Cruise, and Clinic

Humane-Society-Calumet-AreaSpay the Stray 5K – It’s time to strap on your running shoes, the Humane Society Calumet Area and Lan-Oak Park District is hosting the Spay the Stray 5K run on Saturday, September 7th at the Eisenhower Center, located 2550 178th Street in Lansing, IL. The race begins at 9:00am with an awards ceremony to follow. All proceeds of the run benefit the spay and neuter surgeries performed at the Humane Society Calumet Area. Cruisin for a Cause – The Teamster Horsemen Motorcycle Association, Indiana Chapter 25 will be sponsoring their 7th Annual Charity Run in support of the Humane Society Calumet Area. The run is August 10th and will begin with sign-ups at 9:30am at The Glass Tap, located at 3329 Chicago Road in Steger, IL. Tickets are $15 per person with meal included. The last bike will leave at 11am and last bike will be in at 5pm. There will be music, raffle, door prizes, and a 50/50. Also, raffle tickets are available now to win a $50, $100, $250, or $500 gas card. Raffle tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the shelter. All proceeds of the event will benefit the shelter! Vaccination & Microchip Clinic – The Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic is now offering Vaccination & Microchip Clinics from 10:30am – 1:30pm on the following days: Friday, August 2nd, Friday, August 9th, Friday, August 16th, Tuesday, August 20th, and Friday, August 30th. Services available are Distemper Vaccine - $10, Bordatella Vaccine - $10, Microchip, with registration - $20, Advantage Multi - $15, and Nail Trims - $5.

Your pet must be spay or neutered. Proof of a negative heartworm test must be provided if you would like to get Advantage Multi for your pet. These services are available to the following groups: Low-income pet owners on government assistance (such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, Unemployment, or Disability), Owners of Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes, Residents of Gary, IN, Animal Shelters, Animal Controls, and Rescue Groups and Seniors over the age of 65 on government assistance (other than Social Security).
