From June 10 through October 14, Lubeznik Center for the Arts will feature two new exhibitions: Home and Anonymous Women.
Home is a national-juried exhibition that explores the concept of home in all media. Sixteen artists were selected to exhibit work that investigates a variety of interpretations of the theme, such as shelter, family, immigration, homelessness, nostalgia and architecture.
ABOUT THE HOME JURORS:
Emanuel Aguilar is a gallerist and independent curator living and working in Chicago, IL. In 2015 he founded PATRON Gallery, a contemporary art gallery with a focus on emerging artists and conceptual practice. Previously he was a director at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago and Berlin and a founder of the arts and culture magazine Jettison Quarterly. Aguilar serves on the board of ACRE Residency.
Julia Fischbach is a director and co-founder of PATRON Gallery, contemporary art gallery with a focus on emerging artists and conceptual practice, and working in Chicago, IL. Previously she was a director at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago and Berlin for seventeen years.

In conjunction with Home, LCA is exhibiting photographer Patty Carroll's striking series, Anonymous Women, about becoming the dwelling itself; experiencing the double edge of domesticity.
Patty Carroll's photographs are known for their use of highly intense, saturated color. Her most recent project, Anonymous Women, consists of a 3-part series of studio installations made for the camera, addressing women and their complicated relationships with domesticity. By camouflaging the figure in drapery and/or domestic objects, Carroll creates a dark and humorous game of hide-and-seek between her viewers and the Anonymous Woman. The photographs are published in a monograph, Anonymous Women, released in January, 2017 by Daylight Books.
The Anonymous Woman series has been exhibited internationally and has won multiple awards. Carroll was acknowledged as one of Photolucida's "Top 50" in 2104. Her work has been featured in prestigious blogs and international magazines such as the Huffington Post, The Cut, Ain't Bad Magazine, and BJP in Britain. Carroll has had solo exhibitions in China and Europe as well as the US. (White Box Museum, Beijing, Art Institute of Chicago, Royal Photographic Society, Bath, England, among others.) After teaching photography for many years, Carroll has enthusiastically returned to the studio in order to delight viewers with her playful critique of home and excess. She is currently Artist in Residence at Studios Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri.

On the second Saturday of each month, from 10:00-11:00AM, LCA offers curator-led Gallery Talks to discuss the works behind the exhibitions. TALK DATES: July 8, August 12 and September 9.
LCA PARTNERS WITH LOK FOR ANNUAL YOUNG ARTISTS' EXPO
Join us on June 2, from 5:00-8:00PM, for the opening reception of the 4th Annual LOK Young Artists' Expo, a showcase of talented youth in the region, which includes LCA's youth programming.
The LOK Wishing Tree Foundation is dedicated to honoring LaPorte native Lindsey O'Brien Kesling, who died from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 22, by supporting her passions: helping children achieve their dreams and supporting their potential in the performing and creative arts. LOK also seeks to keep children's dreams safe by protecting them and those they love from the dangers of carbon monoxide.
Through the partnership of LCA and LOK Wishing Tree Foundation, we proudly present:
- An exhibition of stellar student artwork until July 14
- A violin performance by students from Pine Elementary
- A dance performance by after-school students from Marsh Elementary
- Chicago rapper, Ridgio
- Dance performances by South Shore Dance Alliance
This exhibition of artwork - created by regional students including LCA's Youth Arts Council and the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington - will be on display in the NIPSCO Education Studios through July 14.
