Hammond Arts Center Welcomes Artist Phillip Herrold

Say_good-bye_to_conventional_landscapesThe Hammond Arts Center is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Phillip Herrold. The “Bon Voyage” art show will run from December 4, 2015 through January 3rd, 2016. An opening reception will be held on December 4th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The exhibition will feature Phillip Herrold's award winning painting "City Showers."

The manipulation of color and shape are the driving forces in Herrold's creation process. The location inspired works, explore a unique take on traditional landscape paintings, such as, using bright colors for the sky rather than ordinary sky blue.

The use of color is important and often explosive in a majority of this exhibit's works. In "Bon Voyage" colors have been amplified lending themselves to creativity, skill and overall interesting artwork. For example, Herrold's inspiration "City Showers" captures a city but using his abstract style the viewer cannot pinpoint the exact location. Placed in vibrant colors the people become a focal point, no longer overtaken by the background.

The Arts Center will feature a 3-panel painting titled "Expedition" This painting reaches 12 feet and connects Herrold's passion for traveling with the creative process apparent in his artistic style.

Phillip Herrold will be present at the opening reception on Friday, December 4th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Hammond Art Centers hours are Monday- Friday: 9-5 Saturday - Sunday: 9-3.
