September First Friday Art Walk: Peter Aglinskas

rotBOn Friday, September 5, 5 - 8:00 pm (CDT) Lubeznik Center for the Arts will host musician Peter Aglinskas. Recipient of the Chicago Cultural Department's "Artists International" Award, Peter Aglinskas infuses his music with elements from the contemporary worlds of jazz, funk and rock, with technique firmly rooted in the classical music tradition. Peter Aglinskas has written scores for theater and was nominated twice for the Joseph Jefferson Award in the category of Best Original Musical Score. He has been a composer and guitarist in diverse Chicago musical ensembles such as The Loop Group, David Hernandez and Street Sounds, Kapture, and Funk Bunker.

Also, during First Friday, step down into the Small NIPSCO Art Education Studio for the opening reception of Theme and Variation by Hal Higdon. Theme and Variation features original comic art from Higdon's collection beside newly created paintings of runners.

Other exhibits on display at the center include: Invasive Species...The Art of Upcycling (Hyndman Gallery) features artwork by Michael Dinges, Victoria Fuller, Alan Emerson Hicks, Valerie Mann, Chris Silva, and Bryan Sperry that crosses boundaries between environmentalism and art. Transformation (North View Gallery) features an installation by Jan Dean, transforming Styrofoam packing. Aquatic Kaleidoscope (Brincka-Cross Gallery) by Renee Robbins features paintings that explore the juxtaposition of flora and fauna. Mycological Magic by Mike Bailey (Large NIPSCO Art Education Studios) features photographs by Mike Bailey.

Enjoy Peter's sultry solo guitar stylings, along with light bites, libations and more. Admission is free. Weather permitting entertainment and refreshments can be enjoyed out on the north lot. Don't miss out!

Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located at 101 W. 2nd St., at the lakefront in Michigan City, IN. Gallery weekday hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CDT).
