Christian Methodist Episcopal members from Indiana and Michigan will gather at Radisson Hotel Star Plaza July 27 through Aug. 1 for the Michigan-Indiana Region Leadership Training School & Annual Conference.
According to the Rev. Willie Weaver, pastor of host church Carter Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Gary, between 350 and 400 members from Detroit, Mich., and Gary, Ind., are expected to attend the conference, which was last hosted in Gary in 2011.
“Guests will be attending training sessions for ministers, youth classes and various services,” said Weaver. “The conference is also an accounting meeting for all churches where they’ll report an account of stewardship for the past year.”
Conference attendees will also enjoy a king and queen pageant where young people will showcase their talents, explained Weaver. Additionally, scholarships will be awarded and pastors will receive appointments for the next year.
“It’s going to be a glorious time of worship, praise and training,” said Weaver.
