Crown Point Community Foundation Awards 2018 Grants

Crown-Point-Community-Foundation-2017The Crown Point Community Foundation awarded $66,793 in grants to the community as part of its September 1st grant cycle. These 18 grants will enrich the lives of residents throughout South Lake County (Crown Point, Cedar Lake, Lowell and Winfield), from helping Taft Middle School PTSA with a “Stand up to bullying” mural program to supporting the Town of Winfield with shade structures for the town’s new park.

Unrestricted community grants are made possible by donors who create funds to support South Lake County community causes and entrust the CPCF to allocate those funds to the greatest need.

Below are the recipients of the September 1st grant cycle:

Best Buddies IN - $1,000
Support the Best Buddies program at CPHS & Jerry Ross Elementary.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Gary - $2,500
Help fund a Lifeline Utility Assistance program to low income residents of South Lake County.

Crown Point RoboDogs Sponsors, Inc. - $2,500
Help fund robot parts for the 2019 season.

CPCSC/CPHS Vex Robotics-Underdogs 1233 - $2,500
Provide funds to CPHS students for parts & hardware in Vex Robotics, a competitive robotics program.

Crown Family Services, Inc - $3,300
Provide office & program supplies for therapeutic services to at risk females.

Crown Point Community Library - $3,000
Provide Tumblebooks database access to elementary students in the Crown Point school system.

Cub Scout Pack 48 - $3,500
Help fund a STEM program for the Cub Scout Pack.

Dunes Dog Training Club Inc/Pets N Vets program - $3,000
Help with expenses for the Pets N Vets program.

First United Methodist Church/Buddy Bag Project - $4,000
Provide supplemental nutrition over weekends and school breaks for students on free lunch program at MacArthur and Timothy Ball Elementary Schools.

Girls on the Run of NWI - $2,500
Offset financial assistance for participants in South Lake County.

Hair for All Foundation - up to $2,500
Seed money to launch a wig reimbursement for needy clients.

Indiana Ballet Theatre NW, Inc. - $3,300
Fund a special needs dance program as therapy for enjoying life, movement and holding down a job.

Knights of Columbus St. Elizabeth Seton Council - $2,000
Help with costs for rehabbing and purchasing used bikes for needy families.

Lake Court House Foundation - $10,000
Assist in paying for emergency repairs to the roof of the building.

Lake Region Christian Academy - $7,500
Expand the educational and character building experiences that day campers and area students have access to in South Lake County.

Taft Middle School PTSA - $5,000
Provide funding to purchase a mural and artwork services for the school, kicking off a “Stand up to bullying” program.

Town of Winfield - $5,693
Provide shade structures at the town’s new park.

Winfield Township Trustee - $3,000
Add landscaping and fencing at a new park in Leroy.

The Crown Point Community Foundation (CPCF) awards grants from the unrestricted funds held in the CPCF Endowment Fund three times a year. The three application cycles are February 1st, June 1st and September 1st. Applications received after the deadline will be held for consideration during the following cycle. Only one grant application per organization or agency will be eligible within a 12-month period. The CPCF Grant Committee reviews all applications.
