Methodist Hospitals Foundation’s Eighth Annual Golf Outing Takes A Swing At Raising Funds For the Northwest Indiana Orthopedic and Spine Center

Philanthropy comes in many forms. When folks can give to a great cause, play a round of golf, and network with others in their field at the same time, it’s a win-win situation all around, which is exactly what Monday’s Methodist Hospitals Foundation Masters Golf Outing was for the entire community.

The Methodist Hospitals Foundation gathered many including Extended Care LLC, SodexoMAGIC, the Gary SouthShore Railcats, and key leadership from Methodist Hospitals. They came together for an afternoon of friendly competition and philanthropy. As they teamed up to beat their personal bests on the green, they helped support the Northwest Indiana Orthopedic and Spine Center at Methodist Hospitals.

Ray Grady, President and CEO at Methodist Hospitals, summed up the day’s activities and the importance of the event. “Fun, fellowship and fundraising! The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of our organization that seeks gifts from patients, other individuals and businesses to support services at Methodist Hospitals.” Grady said.

Participants remarked that, although it could have been a cooler day, the refreshing breeze and good company made the outing a great success. Brian Lyter, General Manager for the Gary SouthShore Railcats, came out to show his support. He remarked that it is important to him to give back to the community whenever possible. “The Foundation is near and dear to us. Any way we can come out and support it the same way Methodist Hospitals supports the RailCats, we’re all for it,” said Lyter.

Kelly Petty, Regional Director of Business Development for Extended Care LLC, was excited for her organization to be a part of the Masters Golf Outing and sponsor an event that does so much good for the community. "Extended Care, which includes Munster Med-Inn, Sebo's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Spring Mill, Lincolnshire, Dyer Nursing, and The Lake County Nursing & Rehab were Gold Sponsors.” Petty said. "Our administrators, Frank Bensema and Steve Owen, golfed with Methodist Hospitals Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr Vineet Shah, and had a fabulous day supporting the Methodist Foundation. Extended Care is a proud supporter of Methodist Hospitals and looks forward to continued sponsorships! We were honored to be a Gold Sponsor this year!"

The Methodist Hospitals Foundation raises money to benefit the patients, families, and communities served by Methodist Hospitals. Much of the money raised today will be used to fund state of the art technology and equipment to support Methodist Hospital’s mission to provide quality healthcare to all those in need. By golfing today, these companies and individuals are lending their time and money to help ensure patients get the care they deserve locally. “We care for a lot of patients that would be financially unable to receive care,” said Grady.

Ken Holdman, Vice President at SodexoMAGIC, said between strokes that his two companies think alike when it comes to philanthropy. “This benefit really supports the community, which is what SodexoMAGIC is all about. We’re here to help strengthen the community we serve,” said Holdman. “We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on a Monday.”
