Marram Health Centers Host Hat, Mitten, and Glove Drive to Aid Homeless

Marram-Glove-Drive-2017During the Months of October and November, Marram Health Centers hosted a hat, mitten, and glove drive. Beginning back in October, the drive allowed the center to collect donations from patients, community members, and employees alike.

This is the second drive Marram has hosted, and is aimed at benefiting those who are experiencing homelessness. The 127 items collected were new and in a variety of sizes, giving Marram the opportunity to benefit many members of their community.

“Here at Marram Health Center, we love reaching out to the community and trying to help in any fashion,” explained Courtnee Dinkins, a community outreach specialist for Marram Health Centers. “We look for areas where Marram Health Center can help. Gary is an underserved population and people need certain things, we try to provide that.”

Once the items collected during the drive are delivered, a number of people in the community will be positively impacted. With proceeds donated to Bakery House, Calumet Township, Lydia House, and Brother’s Keeper, a wide population is certain to be reached.

“We want to put something back in to the community,” Dinkins said. “Everyone really shows up for this drive. We couldn't be more blessed. Every time someone sees one of our flyers they ask how long the drive is. Everyone wants to contribute something.”

For Marram, giving back is important. To them, aiding their community is an integral part of operating within it and provides them a wonderful opportunity to help those in need.

“Being that me and my supervisor work in community outreach it’s what we do and we will continue next year as well,” said Dinkins.

With so many generous people pitching in to aid those in need, the drive shows the dedication and community spirit of Marram Health Centers and the surrounding community. With a large amount of donations for the four shelters, and a goal to continue this in years to come, Marram is making a meaningful impact on their community and those within it.
