Local Public Relations Students Take Part In Walk For Multiple Sclerosis

Local-Public-Relations-Students-Take-Part-In-Walk-For-MS-2017On Sunday, members of student-led public relations firm, Region Communication Solutions participated in a local walk to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The students who participated gathered in the morning at Wicker Park in Highland, Ind. to walk 2.5 miles in support of the funding towards research for MS, a neurological condition that disrupts and disables the nervous system.

Most of the members of RCS who participated in the walk were first time participants and were surprised by the number of people from the community that showed up.

“My favorite part of the walk was seeing how many people participated,” said Cassie Obinger, vice president of internal communication for the firm, “It was nice to feel a part of something.”

However, one member of the firm participated in the MS walk on a personal level. Celine Tucker, director of benchmarking at RCS, has supported the cause for the past 11 years after finding out her mother was diagnosed with the condition.

“The walk is personal to me for obvious reasons,” said Tucker, “I think it was great that I not only got to walk with my family but my fellow classmates and friends as well.”

Aside from supporting a strong cause, the walk also allowed the members of the firm to take a break from their typical formal work setting, giving them a chance to learn more about each other.

“I learned a lot about everyone there, we talked about our work outside of the firm and some of our hobbies,” said Rilee Witt, editorial director at RCS.

The walk proved to be a much-needed bonding experience for the members of the firm as they prepare to start their client selection process and perform a public relations audit.
