Crown Point Community Foundation Awards 2017 Grants

Crown-Point-Community-Foundation-2017The Crown Point Community Foundation awarded $67,416.98 in 22 community grants during its recent grant cycle. Grantees ranged from youth baseball to an Art Therapy program, all enriching the lives of South Lake County.

Unrestricted community grants are made possible by donors who create funds to support South Lake County community causes and entrust the CPCF to allocate those funds to the greatest need. The Cedar Lake community has joined efforts with the CPCF to increase grant making potential in South Lake County with the creation of the Cedar Lake Community Fund. The jointly funded grants indicated below are a prime example of communities working together to make a positive impact.

Purchase and install a new fire alarm system in the Cedar Lake Club

Cedar Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. $2,000 Jointly Funded
Purchase a sonar unit for the ice/water rescue division

Chasing Dreams, Inc. $2,250
Fund the housing costs for summer camp

Community Cancer Research Foundation/Cancer Resource Center $1,000
Cover the cost of an expressive Art Therapy Program at St. Mary Medical Center

Cover the cost of parts for motorcycles for the Operation Combat Bikesaver program, which focuses on vets battling PTSD, TBI and depression

Purchase inclusive playground equipment for children of all capabilities to participate alongside their peers

Purchase and install a handicap door, add new furniture and umbrellas for the courtyard area

The Crown Point Community Foundation (CPCF) awards grants from the unrestricted funds held in the CPCF Endowment Fund three times a year. The three application cycles are February 1st, June 1st and September 1st. Applications received after the deadline will be held for consideration during the following cycle. Only one grant application per organization or agency will be eligible within a 12-month period. The CPCF Grant Committee reviews all applications.
