Duneland Community Generously Supports February 26 Fire Recovery Fundraiser for Pat Gland Family

GlandfundraiserphotoDuneland native, Pat Gland, who served as a bus driver for the Duneland School Corporation for 35 years, lost more than half of her house in a catastrophic fire on January 13, 2017. Thankfully, Pat escaped without injury but now she needs the community’s help.

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit Pat, will be held at the VFW Post 2511, 1290 Wagner Rd, Porter, from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 26. The afternoon will include live entertainment by Peter Nye & the New Blades of Grass, raffles, 50/50 drawing, a silent auction and bake sale. The cost is $10 per person with all proceeds benefiting Pat and her family.

Many Duneland businesses, local artists and friends of the family have come together to generously support this cause by offering a wide range of items for the silent auction. Items include gift baskets by local retailers, sporting event tickets, restaurant gift certificates, paintings by local artists and much more!

Lakeside Wealth Management CEO, Mark Chamberlain, remembers Pat as a caring and fun bus driver for Chesterton. “No one expects to lose half of everything in a house fire,” says Chamberlain. “We want to help as much as possible.”

Lakeside has offered to match the community for the first $500 in donations brought in at the event. “Pat has been a staple in the community for years,” continues Chamberlain. “We hope the community can come out in support of her on February 26.”

Doors will open for the event at noon and guests will be able to view the silent auction items, purchase raffle tickets and bake sale items. The spaghetti dinner, which includes a salad and garlic bread, will be served from 1 to 4 pm.

The music of Peter Nye & the New Blades of Grass will begin at 3 pm and continue until 6 pm. The silent auction will begin at noon and ends at 5 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at the VFW in Porter.
