RDC Residents Make a Place for the Homeless to Rest Their Heads

RDC-PLARN 1The residents of Residences at Deer Creek recently teamed up with the Labor of Love group from St. Michaels Catholic Church to make sleeping mats for the homeless.

The residents helped in cutting plastic store bags, and looping them together to make plarn (plastic yarn). The plarn is then crocheted into mats. A few of the ladies at the RDC also crochet so they were able to help out even more. The mats will be given to the homeless throughout Northwest Indiana. The mats provide a soft, dry place to lay their heads when the need arises.

RDC-PLARN 2"The ladies from Labor of Love asked if our residents would help with this project," Cindy Horgash Life Enrichment Director Residences at Deer Creek said. "We had residents who felt this was a way to give back to those less fortunate. We also enjoy the fellowship with the ladies from St. Michael’s Church."
